How to Prepare a Concrete Driveway Project for Bids

A durable driveway depends on subgrade preparation, drainage, slab thickness, reinforcement, jointing and finishing conditions. Quoting only square footage misses the factors that often cause cracking or movement.

  • Describe removal of existing paving, excavation, unsuitable material, base thickness, compaction and hauling.
  • Agree on intended slab thickness, reinforcement, control joints, expansion/isolation joints and finish texture.
  • Clarify curing, access restrictions, weather delays and protection of surrounding landscaping.
